8 Conditions of Teeth and Gums that require visiting a Dentist

Here are 8 Teeth and Mouth Conditions to watch out for:

1. Dry Mouth

Dry mouth or xerostomia is a condition where the oral cavity lacks saliva. Xerostomia can trigger bad breath, excess coral production, inflammation and swelling of the gums, cavities, fungus in the mouth, and burning and pain in the mouth. Xerostamoia is often suffered by elderly patients, patients with complicated diseases (such as diabetes, hypertension, kidney disorders, etc.), patients with missing teeth, patients with a history of depression and anxiety disorders, obese bodies, smokers, a history of asthma, a history of consuming certain medications, and many more.

2. Sensitive Teeth

Tooth sensitivity is sharp pain or sensitivity when eating or drinking something hot, cold, sweet, or sour. Sensitive teeth are a sign of brittle enamel, cavities and cracks and fractures in the teeth.

3. Bleeding or Swollen Gums

Gums that often bleed or swell when brushing your teeth or using dental floss could be a sign of cavities or gum disease

4. Your teeth hurt so much that you can't sleep or move

If you have a toothache that is severe or lasts more than a day or two, even after taking painkillers the pain still comes and goes, this is a sign of a cavity and infection. Toothache that is not treated immediately can trigger swelling and pus production in the gums which can lead to serious problems, even death.

5. Discoloration of Teeth or Mouth

Discoloration of the teeth, gums, or other oral tissues is a sign that there is inflammation in the teeth or there is a problem with your body's health.

6 Cracked, Broken, Hole or Loose Teeth:

Cracked, broken, holes or loose teeth can be caused by traumatic impact on the teeth and mouth, or inflammation of the gums/tartar.

7. Canker sores that don't heal

Canker sores or sores in the mouth that do not heal within two weeks or come and go in the mouth are a sign of health problems or cavities.

8. Difficulty Chewing or Swallowing

Difficulty chewing or swallowing occurs due to impaired function of the chewing muscles and joints. Usually this condition is caused by wisdom teeth that are impacted/not growing properly or missing teeth.

Immediately recognize the 8 signs above and immediately check with the Hermina Hospital dental clinic, if Hermina Friends have any of the signs and symptoms above.
