Can toothpaste treat burns, myth or fact?

Some people have long believed in and practiced using toothpaste to treat burns. According to him, applying toothpaste to burns will make the wound feel cold and make it heal faster. Is this information a fact or just a myth?
Burns can be caused by various things, such as: if you catch fire, encounter hot exhaust fumes or jets of hot oil. The burned skin becomes red, painful, and hot, and it develops blisters.
The severity of burns can also vary; some only damage the outer layer of the skin, while others extend to the deep layers of the skin or even to the nerves.

Precise information about toothpaste for treating burns
When used, toothpaste usually gives a fresh and cool feeling in the mouth. This taste is due to the ingredients it contains, namely sodium fluoride, baking powder, and menthol.
Well, that fresh and cold taste is what makes people think that toothpaste can be used as first aid for burning skin.  In fact, these materials can make burns worse.
When toothpaste is applied to a burn, the heat is trapped in the skin. As a result, skin damage can be more severe, extending to the deeper layers of the skin, and burns can take longer to heal.

First aid tips for burns:
1. If you panic when exposed to hot oil, fire, or other sources of burning Often, people use toothpaste or ice cubes to cool the wound, but this is not entirely true. First aid for burns consists of pouring room-temperature water over the burn site for 15 minutes. Another option is to use an ice pack, but not directly on the skin. This is because deeper burns occur when the temperature in contact with the skin is too cold.
2. After the water comes out, the next step is to wrap it with a soft cloth or cotton soaked in cold water. The purpose of this bandage is to protect the blister from irritation and inflammation.
3. If blisters appear, do not squeeze, because they can infect the skin
4. Any clothing or jewelry stuck to the wound should not be removed but carefully cut off.
After finishing the initial treatment for the burn, don't forget to stay in the hospital or see a doctor to treat the wound.
