Caesarean section is a birthing procedure to deliver the baby through an incision in the abdomen. A caesarean section is performed if vaginal delivery is not possible or if pregnancy complications occur.
In general, caesarean section begins with the administration of spinal anesthesia to the patient. The goal is to keep the patient awake, but numb from the waist to the feet during the operation.
The majority of patients who deliver by caesarean section can only go home after 3-5 days of being hospitalized. During the recovery period, patients are not advised to do strenuous activities until the doctor makes sure that their condition is completely recovered.

Purpose and Indications for Caesarean section
The purpose and main indication for caesarean section is as an emergency treatment if the pregnancy conditions endanger the life of the mother or fetus. Caesarean section is recommended by doctors if pregnant women have the following conditions or diseases:
• Normal delivery does not go well or heavy bleeding occurs
• Infections, such as genital herpes infection or HIV
• Increased blood pressure and protein in the urine (preeclampsia)
• Position of the placenta that is too down (placenta previa)
• Twin pregnancy

In subsequent pregnancies, consult with your doctor regarding the proper delivery method. This is to prevent the risk of uterine rupture during childbirth.
