Heart Rhythm Abnormalities

Heart Rhythm Abnormalities

Hi Friends, Hermina Banyumanik
The heart is a vital organ that functions as a blood pump to meet the needs of oxygen and nutrients throughout the body. If the heart experiences problems, blood circulation in the body can be disrupted, so maintaining heart health is very important to avoid various types of heart disease.
Heart rhythm abnormalities or arrhythmias are conditions where the heart rhythm rate is abnormal. The pace may feel too fast, too slow, or the rhythm may be irregular. In general, heart rhythm disorders are classified as harmless, they can cause severe symptoms and complications if this disease occurs due to a weak or damaged heart condition. Heart Rhythm Disorders can cause symptoms or no symptoms. There are 2 types of arrhythmia, namely the patient's heart rate can be felt to be very slow if it is less than 60 beats/minute (bradycardia) or very fast > 100 beats/minute (tachycardia)
What Causes Heart Rhythm Disorders?
Arrhythmia occurs when the electrical impulses that regulate heartbeat do not work properly. This can be caused by several medical conditions, including consumption of certain drugs (cold medicine or allergy medicine), hypertension, diabetes, thyroid disorders, heart valve disorders and congenital heart disease.
Apart from medical conditions, arrhythmias can also be triggered by an unhealthy lifestyle, such as not being able to manage stress well, lack of sleep, smoking, excessive consumption of alcoholic or caffeinated drinks and drug abuse.
What are the Symptoms of Heart Rhythm Disorders?
Patients sometimes feel that their heart rate is missing or skips, patients can feel vibrations in the chest or neck
A heart rate that is too slow or less than 50 beats per minute is characterized by a weak body, frequent drowsiness or yawning, cold sweat and fainting.
A heartbeat that is too fast is characterized by chest pain, shortness of breath, cold sweat, frequent palpitations and fainting
What are the types of heart rhythm disorders?
Atrial fibrillation is a condition when the heart's atrium or atrium beats irregularly, so that blood flow from the atrium to the chambers or ventricles of the heart is disrupted.
Ventricular tachycardia is a heart disease that occurs due to abnormal electrical impulses from the ventricles which cause the heart rate to beat faster than normal. People who have had a heart attack are susceptible to ventricular tachycardia.
Ventricular fibrillation is a condition characterized by the failure of the ventricles to pump blood properly or no blood being pumped out of the heart. The heart rhythm is very fast, irregular and uncoordinated.
Long QT syndrome occurs when the heart's electrical system does not function normally. This can trigger other heart rhythm disorders that interfere with the heart's pumping function
