Convenient and efficient chemotherapy with chemoport

Chemoport or often referred to as mediport or cancer port is a device used as blood vessel access for people with cancer who are undergoing chemotherapy.

The device is installed surgically by implanting it under the patient's skin. Chemoport has a special tube for administering chemotherapy drugs directly to large blood vessels. The main purpose of installing this device is to facilitate blood vessel access in patients undergoing chemotherapy.

Cancer sufferers undergoing such treatment usually require repeated blood tests and also require regular injections of medication . Through this device, patients do not need to be injected repeatedly for taking blood samples or for inserting infusions and administering drugs.

Tubes in chemoports that are directly connected to large blood vessels can also reduce patient discomfort during chemotherapy. Chemotherapy drugs are irritating drugs, so if they are injected into small blood vessels, inflammatory reactions can occur in the blood vessels and surrounding tissue, which will make the patient feel pain.

Besides that, the side effects of chemotherapy which makes small blood vessels become fragile and the high risk of bleeding also makes chemoport an efficient device of choice in the medical field.

Chemoport implantation is carried out in the operating room by a surgeon in approximately 60 minutes if there are no significant complications. The installation procedure usually only uses local anesthesia/local anesthesia in the installation area. This device can be placed on the chest, arm or stomach according to the indication and type of cancer. After installation, the patient will be observed for some time in the operating room to monitor for complications from the installation

Installation of a chemoport also aims to prevent blood vessel damage caused by chemotherapy drugs if given intravenously. And with each chemotherapy cycle, staff no longer have difficulty finding or inserting an IV into a healthy blood vessel

One of the factors causing pain or discomfort in patients undergoing chemotherapy is because chemotherapy drugs enter the blood vessels  causing inflammation.

The use of chemoport also aims to minimize discomfort and pain in cancer sufferers during chemotherapy.
