Healthy Eyes Without Cataracts

Healthy Eyes Without Cataracts

Cataracts are opacity in the normally clear lens of the eye. This turbidity is due to changes in the structure of the proteins in the lens of the eye, which are affected by aging, exposure to ultraviolet radiation, or due to diabetes / diabetes mellitus. There are other causes such as repeated eye infections and collisions. Because of these factors, the majority of sufferers are aged 50 years and over, 3 out of 100 people in Indonesia will experience it, and 80% are elderly.

For people who suffer from cataracts, they will feel a sensation such as foggy, foggy, cloudy, glare, even to the point of not being able to see at all. Sufferers will have difficulty doing activities such as reading, driving (especially at night), and socializing.

At a more advanced stage, the patient will lose independence in carrying out daily activities.

Cataracts are a highly curable eye disease, termed avoidable blindness. Because the nature of the lens has changed to become hard, stiff, and cloudy, cataract therapy is through surgery. not with drugs, because it is certainly not effective.

Some people still feel worried, afraid, doubtful about cataract surgery. There is no need to worry that currently, cataract surgery technology is very advanced, with the help of ultrasound waves, and with a minimum of incisions. So that there is minimal pain, no stitches, fast recovery, and very good results approaching normal eyes.

On the other hand, delaying therapy in cataract cases can lead to further complications. The harder the cataract, the higher the difficulty level of surgery. and if the cataractous lens bulges, or melts, it can induce glaucoma. Meanwhile, glaucoma itself can cause the death of the optic nerve, resulting in permanent blindness.

Therefore, let's stop avoidable blindness, we have to do prevention of permanent blindness, which begins with cataract cases.
