Getting to Know Appendicitis or Appendicitis
Hermina's friends, generally appendicitis or appendicitis is a condition caused by inflammation of the appendix (appendix). The appendix itself is a sac-shaped organ that is connected to the large intestine from the lower right side of the abdomen. The definition of appendicitis is inflammation resulting from infection of the appendix or worm tube (appendix). This infectious condition can result in suppuration. If the infection gets worse, the appendix can rupture. There are 2 categories of appendicitis, namely, acute appendicitis and chronic appendicitis.
Apart from that, appendicitis or appendicitis can be caused by many other factors, but usually occurs due to obstruction in the appendix. If the appendix is blocked, for example by hardened stool, intestinal bacteria will breed in it. Therefore, the appendix will become inflamed, swollen, and filled with pus.
The following are factors that cause appendicitis, namely :
- Lumen Blockage
- Battery Infection
- Erosion of the appendix mucosa
- Blockage by feces
- Hyperplasia of lymphoid tissue
- Eating habit
The signs & symptoms include:
- Pain near the navel or upper abdomen which becomes sharper when it shifts to the lower right abdomen. This is usually the first sign.
- Loss of appetite
- Nausea and/or vomiting as soon as the stomach ache begins
- Have a fever
- Inability to flatus (fart)
- Vomiting that precedes abdominal pain
- Constipation or even diarrhea
The way to find out appendicitis is by carrying out a diagnostic examination, namely, a blood test to see if there are signs of leukocytosis which means there is inflammation/infection, an ultrasound examination, and an appendicogram. After the examination, if appendicitis is diagnosed, the doctor will immediately provide further treatment, by carrying out surgery or what is called an appendectomy.
If Hermina Friends experience similar symptoms, you can immediately consult a specialist surgeon at Hermina Solo Hospital so that you can get the right treatment according to the patient's condition.
