Maintaining Health in the Rainy Season: Simple Steps to Stay Fit
Hermina's friends, the rainy season often presents health challenges. Cold and damp weather, as well as an increased risk of exposure to diseases such as flu, dengue fever, and diarrhea, require us to be more vigilant. Here are several steps you can take to maintain health during the rainy season.
1. Consume nutritious food.
A balanced diet is very important to maintain the body's immune system. Consuming foods rich in vitamin C, such as oranges, kiwi, and peppers, can improve the immune system. Apart from that, protein from sources such as eggs, fish, and nuts also helps the body fight infections.
2. Stay active and exercise.
Even though the weather is often unfriendly, exercise is still important to maintain fitness. If it is not possible to exercise outdoors, you can do yoga or light exercise at home. Exercise helps improve blood circulation and strengthen immunity.
3. Wash your hands regularly.
The rainy season often increases the risk of spreading viruses and bacteria. Washing your hands with soap for 20 seconds can prevent various diseases, including flu and diarrhea. If you don't have access to water, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
4. Keep the environment clean.
Stagnant water that often appears when it rains becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes that cause dengue fever. Make sure there are no puddles of water around the house and do the 3M movement: drain, close, and recycle places that can hold water. Also use anti-mosquito lotion as additional protection.
5. Avoid wet and damp clothes.
After getting caught in the rain, immediately change into wet clothes to prevent the risk of hypothermia and skin infections. Apart from that, bathing in warm water can help the body stay warm and clean germs that may be attached.
6. Get enough rest time.
Getting enough sleep, namely 7–8 hours per night, is very important for the body's recovery. Lack of sleep can lower your immunity and make you more susceptible to disease.
7. Use a mask and warm clothes.
Cold and humid air can trigger allergies or worsen respiratory conditions. Wearing a mask when outside and warm clothes can help protect the body from the bad effects of the weather.
In maintaining health during the rainy season, Hermina's friends require attention to a healthy lifestyle, personal hygiene, and the environment. By implementing the steps above, Friends of Hermina can reduce the risk of disease and go through the rainy season with a body that remains fit.
