Types of Headache

The causes of headaches can be divided into 2 types, there are headaches that are not related to other diseases (Primary headaches) and headaches that are caused by other diseases (Secondary headaches).

  1. Primary headache

Primary headaches are caused by problems with structures in the head that are too sensitive to pain. Examples of primary headaches that often occur include:

  1. Tension Headache:

A headache that generally occurs in women. The cause of Tension Headache is still not known for certain but there are several factors that can trigger it, such as stress, fatigue, late eating, lack of sleep and tension. Pain can feel mild, severe, and sometimes accompanied by nausea.

  1. Migraine (one-sided headache)

Migraines are caused by blood vessel disorders, due to a combination of vasodilation (widening of the blood vessels) and the release of chemicals from the nerve fibers that surround the blood vessels. Migraine (one-sided headache) is often felt as a severe, throbbing headache that attacks one side of the head. Some of the trigger factors are stress, fatigue, consumption of foods containing MSG, chocolate, cheese, and hormonal factors such as menstruation.

Headaches that feel like they are being stabbed around the eye area or behind the eyes and often occur on one side, watery and red eyes, stuffy and runny nose are the characteristics of cluster headaches, cluster headache sufferers will feel very painful.
