How to deal, with sunburn and how to prevent it!
Sunburn is a condition when the skin is burned by the sun. Sunburn, or sunburn, is an inflammatory skin condition that occurs as a result of excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays. These UV rays come from the sun and can damage the DNA of skin cells. Although often considered trivial, sunburns can cause discomfort and even more serious health risks.
Symptoms of sunburn or inflammation of the skin caused by excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays generally appear a few hours after being exposed to too much sunlight. Here are the signs:
- Red, hot, and painful
- skin dry and tight.
- skin swollen
- skin fever
- headache fatigue
The cause of sunburn occurs when the skin is exposed to UV rays in greater amounts than its ability to protect itself.
- Long-term skin sun exposure
- Light or sensitive skin
- Use of certain drugs
- Previous history of sunburn
However, preventing sunburn is better than treating it.
- Use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, especially when outdoors.
- Wear protective clothing like a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and a wide hat.
- Avoid direct UV light from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and wear black glasses to protect you from UV light.
Treatment is absolutely necessary if you have sunburn. Here are a few steps to relieve symptoms:
- Compress the skin with cold water or a cold bath. Use a non-parfum moisturizer to keep the skin moist.
- Drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration.
- Use a painkiller to reduce the pain caused by sunburn.
If the sunburn you experience is very severe and accompanied by high fever, tingling, dizziness, or severe swelling, immediately consult a dermatologist at Hermina Karawang Hospital. With proper protection and good management, you can prevent and deal with sunburns effectively.
