Already gaining weight after Eid? Tips from nutritionists to prevent weight gain after Lebaran

Eating a variety of typical Lebaran dishes, especially to the point of overindulgence, can certainly cause weight gain. If you are one of the people who experience this, don't worry too much. Let's see how to prevent weight gain after Lebaran in this article.

Even though you are celebrating Eid, maintaining your ideal weight is important. This is because it is useful to reduce the risk of various health problems, ranging from obesity, diabetes, hypertension, to heart disease.

Nutritionists say many people try to change their lifestyle to be healthier. But when Eid arrives, the habit of holding back food starts to get out of control again. As a result, many people experience several health problems and obesity.

This is triggered by a drastic change in diet and encouraged by family gatherings. When visiting each family home, we will be served a variety of dishes that cannot be refused. Without realizing it, the food and drinks we eat have high calories. If left unchecked, this can lead to weight gain.

To deal with the onslaught of high-calorie foods and drinks, let's look at tips from nutritionists:

1.Do fasting Syawal
A surefire way to prevent obesity after Eid is to do fasting Syawal for six days.

You can also continue fasting by paying debts in Ramadan. This is done so that the body gets used to and continues to adapt to a regular diet.

Weight after Eid will remain stable and not make the scales scream. If you want to keep your body in shape, Dr. Nurul advises you to be consistent in maintaining your diet by getting used to fasting on Mondays and Thursdays.

2.Organize your diet
If during Lebaran your diet becomes messy and uncontrolled, from now on try to have a more organized diet. You can do this by setting the same meal schedule every day, for example 3 main meals with 2 snacks in between.

That way, your body will adapt and get used to the eating schedule, so you can avoid the urge to eat constantly.

3.Increase fiber consumption
Typical Lebaran dishes are synonymous with high-fat and coconut milk. If consumed in excess, this can certainly make you gain weight.

Therefore, to lose weight after Lebaran, start eating healthy foods again, for example by reducing fatty or sweet foods and increasing the consumption of high fiber foods, such as vegetables, fruits, and grains.

Fiber foods can make you feel full faster and maintain that feeling of fullness for longer. This way, you can control your urge to overeat.

4.Exercise regularly
Even though it's Lebaran, still make time to exercise. Exercise can speed up your body's metabolic process, allowing you to burn more calories. Thus, you can also lose weight more easily.

Choose the type of exercise and its duration according to your ability. Ideally, exercise for at least 30 minutes, 4-5 times a week. Some types of exercise that are effective for weight loss and easy to do are brisk walking, running, swimming, and jumping rope.
