BEWARE OF MONKEYPOX VIRUS

Monkeypox is one of the diseases that is currently getting attention and discussion in the community. Monkeypox itself is caused by the human monkeypox virus (MPXV) orthopoxvirus from the Poxviridae family which is highly foldogenic or zoonotic. This virus was first discovered in monkeys in 1958, while the first cases in humans (children) occurred in 1970.

In response to this condition, the government through the Ministry of Health is making efforts to prevent the spread of monkeypox in Indonesia.

According to its nature, monkeypox is a zoonotic disease, which is a disease that is transmitted from animals to humans. This disease is an endemic disease from West Africa and Central Africa caused by infection with the human monkeypox virus (MPXV) orthopoxvirus from the poxviridae family. News about the spread of the monkeypox or monkeypox outbreak, has begun to be heard again in several countries. So by looking at these conditions, the WHO Health Organization (World Health Organization) declared monkeypox as an international health emergency. The news was first revealed by Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus as Secretary General of the World Health Organization (WHO) on Saturday 23 July 2022.

According to experts, who had previously met with the Health Emergency Committee (WHO), concluded that there were many "unusual" aspects of the monkeypox outbreak. Thus, the experts concluded that monkeypox became one of the outbreaks that entered as a global health emergency.

Continue to apply clean and healthy living behavior, and follow directions and information from the government or the media that can be accounted for regarding the development of monkeypox.
