Menu for breaking the fast that must be avoided for people with hypertension

Menu for breaking the fast that must be avoided for people with hypertension

Hypertension is a condition where the body experiences blood pressure that exceeds normal limits. Symptoms that suffer from hypertension include a person experiencing headaches, eye pain, weakness or fatigue. Generally, adults with a healthy body condition have normal blood pressure of around 90/60 mmHg to 120/80 mmHg. If left to continue, hypertension can trigger complications from various diseases, such as heart disease, stroke, and even life-threatening. A person who has been diagnosed with hypertension must always take medication to stabilize their blood pressure.

Knowing that, before fasting, hypertension sufferers should first consult a doctor regarding whether they are allowed to fast or not. This is to prevent undesirable things from happening if you are forced to fast. If the doctor permits, then during fasting, hypertension sufferers must reduce their intake of foods that contain high sodium and fat. In this month of Ramadan, breaking the fast is a very special moment. Not a few people buy lots of their favorite foods to quench their hunger and thirst after a day of fasting.

However, if you have hypertension, you should be careful and not go crazy when breaking the fast. Because, there are several dietary restrictions so that blood pressure does not rise suddenly, including:

1. Foods rich in salt

For people with hypertension, avoid foods rich in salt when breaking the fast. Salt is a major contributor to high blood pressure so it needs to be avoided. These foods can cause hypertension because they can affect the fluid balance in the blood.

In fact, a person should not consume sodium content of 2,300 milligrams or the equivalent of 1 teaspoon. Therefore, it is better to avoid foods with a salty taste when breaking the fast.

2. Sugar

Excessive sugar intake when breaking the fast can also increase blood pressure. Drinks rich in sugar can contribute to weight gain, both in adults and children.

Overweight and obesity which affect a person's high blood pressure. In fact, several studies say that excessive sugar consumption can also have a direct effect on increasing blood pressure.

Therefore, make sure to limit your daily sugar consumption. For men, make sure to consume no more than 9 teaspoons. Meanwhile for women, no more than 6 tea spoons of sugar.

3. Processed foods are rich in saturated fat

Someone who has high blood pressure problems also needs to avoid consuming processed foods that are rich in saturated fat. Trans fat itself is an artificial fat that increases the shelf life and stability of packaged foods.

This content increases LDL cholesterol levels (bad cholesterol) and reduces HDL cholesterol levels (good cholesterol), so there is a greater risk of developing hypertension. Some foods that are rich in saturated fat are animal products, such as fat-rich milk and cream, butter, and chicken skin.

4. Red meat

During the fasting month, there are usually lots of processed meat foods, such as rendang or curry. However, people with hypertension should avoid consuming meat when breaking the fast. Because red meat contains saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium, which can increase blood pressure.

5. Fried foods

In Indonesia, breaking the fast with fried food seems to have become a habit. So, those who have hypertension should avoid this habit. Consuming fried foods can cause blood pressure to rise, reduce HDL cholesterol levels, and increase the risk of obesity.

When food is fried in oil, the water content in it is lost and the oil is absorbed. As a result, the calories in food increase

Those are the foods that people with hypertension need to avoid. Just in case, you should also always have hypertension medication on hand that can lower blood pressure.

What Happens to the Body When You Stop Consuming Sugar

Sugar is a cooking ingredient that is never missing in every daily meal. These cooking ingredients can add a sweet taste, making the dish taste delicious.

However, please note that consuming excessive sugar can actually cause serious health problems. So, it would be better if consumption is reduced or does not exceed the normal daily sugar requirement.

In general, we won't be able to stop eating sugar altogether, because sugar is generally found in many foods, such as fruit and vegetables, but consumption is very limited so we don't want excess sugar anymore.

Safe Limits for Daily Sugar Consumption

The body still needs sugar intake to stay healthy. Because sugar is one of the main sources of energy for the body. It's just that daily intake needs to be limited, so it can't be too much or too little. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), men should consume no more than 9 teaspoons of sugar (36 grams or 150 calories) per day. For women, the amount is lower, namely six teaspoons (25 grams or 100 calories) per day. Based on these recommendations, limiting sugar should be done every day to avoid the risk of various serious diseases.

Excessive sugar consumption can increase a person's risk of experiencing high blood sugar. High blood sugar or hyperglycemia is a condition when glucose levels in the blood increase. Anyone can experience high blood sugar, even people who don't have diabetes. The trigger factors vary, for example certain medical conditions, use of certain medications, excessive exercise, and insulin levels that are too high. If someone experiences hyperglycemia, there are several symptoms that can arise, including :

• Often feel thirsty.

• Increased frequency of urination.

• Blurry or blurred vision.

• Frequent nausea and vomiting.

• Stomach ache.

Reducing sugar intake can provide various health benefits, such as:

• Reduced risk of diabetes

• Reduced risk of heart disease

• Prevents acne and keeps you youthful

• Prevents Aging

• Eliminate fat in the stomach

• Reduced desire to snack

• Stable blood sugar

How to Reduce Sugar Consumption :

• After knowing a number of benefits of reducing sugar, now is the time to understand tips for reducing sugar consumption in a healthy manner. Here are some of them:

• Cook more often at home to ensure the sugar dose does not exceed the normal daily level required.

• Bring food from home.

• Increase your intake of fruit and vegetables that contain natural sugar as alternative foods.

• Reduce consumption of fast food.

Controlling blood sugar levels in the body is very important to maintain health. Therefore, it is a good idea to limit sugar intake in a balanced way and have regular health checks from a specialist doctor.

Difficulty defecating could be an early symptom of colon cancer

Kotoran berdarah.
Kesulitan atau lebih sering buang air besar.
Perut kembung dan kram.
Badan terasa lemas dan berat badan menurun.

Frekuensi buang air besar setiap orang berbeda-beda.

Kotoran berdarah
Bengkak
Ada benjolan di perut
Sakit di bagian tengah perut
Menurunkan berat badan tanpa alasan
Perubahan konsistensi tinja

The Importance of Thalassemia Screening Before Marriage

Before getting married, there are many things that the prospective bride and groom must prepare. One of the most important is health screening.

Prospective brides and grooms are advised to be screened for diseases that might be passed on to their future children. The disease screening that is highly recommended is thalassemia.

Thalassemia can be inherited genetically if one partner is a carrier of thalassemia. Therefore, to prevent thalassemia, it is very important to carry out thalassemia screening before marriage to detect hemoglobinopathy carriers.
Thalassemia is a hereditary disease (genetic disorder) caused by red blood cell abnormalities that requires patients to undergo blood transfusions throughout their lives. This disease can be inherited from marriage between two people with thalassemia and is dangerous for children.

Premarital screening examinations involve promoting the health and well-being of partners and offspring. This is very important because it can prevent the spread of disease and other factors that can influence the risk of pregnancy and birth.
This screening is carried out to determine and avoid the risk that diseases such as thalassemia can decrease in children. However, if you have been screened and diagnosed with thalassemia, this does not mean you cannot get married.

If you already know about thalassemia and still want to get married, that's okay. But, pay more attention if you want to have children. It must be discussed first with your partner. If the child is also diagnosed with thalassemia, the child must have regular blood transfusions at the hospital and other treatment, whether ready or not.

Screening before marriage also allows couples to know the right steps to take if one of them carries thalassemia. Screening before marriage will usually carry out several tests. This ranges from common genetic blood disorders (e.g. sickle cell anemia and thalassemia), including the risk of infectious diseases, such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV/AIDS).

The following are the benefits of having an examination before marriage, including thalassemia screening, namely:
• Promote awareness of the comprehensive concept of healthy marriages
• Reduce pressure on health institutions and blood banks
• Avoid social and psychological problems for families whose children suffer from hereditary diseases
• Reduce the financial burden on families and society to care for injured people
Every couple is advised to have an examination at least three months before the wedding date, so that the couple can plan their life better, as the premarital compatibility certificate is only valid for six months.

Get to know the epilepsy that Lisa Rumbewas suffered from before she died

Get to know the epilepsy that Lisa Rumbewas suffered from before she died

Legendary Indonesian lifter Raema Lisa Rumbewas has died. The athlete who won three Olympic medals was treated in hospital before he died after experiencing a recurrence of his epilepsy.

Epilepsy or epilepsy is a condition that can cause a person to experience repeated seizures. Epilepsy can attack a person when damage or changes occur in the brain.

In the human brain there are neurons or nerve cells which are part of the nervous system. Each nerve cell communicates with each other using electrical impulses.

In the case of epilepsy, seizures occur when these electrical impulses are produced excessively, causing uncontrolled behavior or body movements.

In fact, anyone can experience epilepsy. This disease can attack people of all ages and all genders.

Causes of Epilepsy

Epilepsy can begin at any age, generally this condition occurs since childhood. Based on the cause, epilepsy is divided into two, namely:

• Idiopathic epilepsy, also known as primary epilepsy. This is a type of epilepsy whose cause is unknown. A number of experts suspect that this condition is caused by genetic factors (hereditary).

• Symptomatic epilepsy, also called secondary epilepsy. This is a type of epilepsy whose cause can be known. A number of factors, such as serious head injuries, brain tumors and strokes, are thought to cause secondary epilepsy.

Several factors have the potential to increase the risk of developing epilepsy, including:

• Age

Epilepsy is generally experienced by children and the elderly. However, this condition can also be experienced by all groups who are at risk of developing epilepsy.

• Genetic

The medical history experienced by family members can be a trigger for the cause of epilepsy.

• Head injury

Head injury can be one of the causes of epilepsy.

• Stroke and vascular disease.

Stroke and other blood vessel (vascular) diseases can cause brain damage which can trigger this condition.

• Dementia

• Brain infection

Inflammation of the brain or spinal cord can increase the risk of developing epilepsy.

• History of seizures in childhood

Seizures can be caused by high fever. In this condition, children are more susceptible to epilepsy.

Regarding Lisa's death, it is possible that the cause of the weightlifter's death was not caused directly by epilepsy. Because in most cases, patients with a history of epilepsy often die due to other conditions they suffer from. Indeed, there are sudden unexpected deaths in epilepsy patients, known as SUDEP (Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy). This means that epilepsy patients die without any warning and no other cause is found.

Recurrent seizures are the main symptom of epilepsy. The characteristics of seizures will vary and depend on the part of the brain that is first disturbed and how far the disturbance occurs.

See a doctor immediately if you experience the following symptoms of epilepsy:

• Seizures last more than 5 minutes

• Breathing or consciousness does not return after the seizure stops

• The second seizure occurs soon after

• High fever

• Heat exhaustion

• Is pregnant

• Have diabetes

• Self-harm during a seizure

• Still having seizures even though you are taking seizure medication

• Having a seizure for the first time

Even though it may not be certain whether you have had a seizure or not, it would be better to visit a doctor straight away if you suspect anything, or if someone alerts you to unconscious behavior.

Consequences of Losing Teeth and Without Replacing Dentures

Consequences of Losing Teeth and Without Replacing Dentures

Teeth have an important function for human life in terms of aesthetics, mastication and speech function (phonation). Loss of some teeth or even all teeth can result in a reduction or loss of these functions.

To replace the lost function, a person can use artificial teeth (fake teeth) made by a dentist. The use of artificial teeth is very important because losing teeth in the mouth if left alone for a long time can have the potential to have a bad impact on the condition of other teeth.

Losing teeth is sometimes considered normal by some people, even though if a tooth is missing then the function of the tooth itself cannot function optimally and can disrupt a person's physical health. Losing a tooth is also referred to as a disability. Factors that cause a person to lose their teeth are as follows:

Teeth are pulled out / fall out,
Due to tooth decay/ caries
Due to damage to tooth supporting tissue/mobility
Accident / trauma

DISORDERS CAUSED BY TOOTH LOSS

Changing the arrangement of teeth (migration and rotation)

Losing teeth causes empty space in the jaw where the missing teeth used to be. This can cause neighboring teeth to move (migrate) to occupy the empty space. This shift can be accompanied by tooth rotation (rotation) or a change in tooth tilt. This causes the teeth to become irregular and appear unaesthetic due to the teeth appearing slanted or spaced apart from each other.

Excessive eruption/Tooth loss (over eruption)

If a tooth in one jaw is missing then the opposing tooth in the other jaw has no point of contact with anything. This can cause the tooth to erupt (movement of the tooth out of its socket) or what is also called extrusion.

Effects on Oral Hygiene

Changes in tooth position as explained previously can create small spaces between the teeth. These spaces have the potential to be occupied by food waste and are sometimes more difficult to clean, which can reduce oral hygiene and increase the potential for cavities and tartar to form. In addition, someone who loses teeth on one side of the jaw tends to use the other side of the jaw for chewing. Chewing on only one side increases the potential for tartar formation on the side of the jaw that is not used.

Decreased chewing efficiency

Losing many teeth in the back (molars) will reduce or lose chewing function. This decrease in mastication efficiency will have an impact on the incomplete digestion process of food that enters the body. This certainly affects the absorption of nutrients from the food consumed and can have a systemic effect on a person's body in the long term.

Disorders of the jaw joint (temporo mandible)

Loss of back (posterior) teeth can cause loss of chewing contact as well as normal vertical dimensions of the teeth. Improper masticatory contact also has an effect on the movement of the jaw joint (temporomandibular), which is the main joint in masticatory function.

Excessive load on one of the teeth

If a tooth is missing, the chewing load will be transferred to the other remaining teeth. This could result in damage to the tooth supporting tissue (periodontal) of existing teeth due to excess chewing load. This damage can lead to tooth instability due to the bone supporting the teeth continuing to decrease due to excessive pressure on the teeth.

Speech and appearance disorders

Loss of teeth, especially in the front (anterior) can cause disruption of speech function (phonation). This is because the pronunciation of some letters requires tongue contact with the front teeth. Apart from that, losing front teeth certainly affects a person's appearance, making them look unattractive. Both of these things will affect a person's self-confidence in interacting with their environment.

These are some of the bad effects of losing teeth. To prevent some of these effects, it is recommended to consult with the nearest dentist if any of your teeth have been lost/extracted so that they can be replaced with dentures/false teeth that suit your condition. Apart from that, if the problematic tooth can still be preserved by filling it or having root canal treatment, then it is best not to have the tooth extracted straight away.

The weather is still hot. Jumbo iced tea is still the winner

The weather is still hot. Jumbo iced tea is still the winner

The sweltering hot weather phenomenon that has occurred in recent months is quite worrying. In fact, in several regions of Indonesia, the temperature range in a number of cities in Java was recorded to have jumped to quite high numbers, between 35 -38 degrees Celsius during the day. It doesn't stop there, several people in Indonesia also complain about the hot temperatures at night.

To deal with this situation, it is not uncommon for people to look for ways to "save" themselves from this unbearable situation, such as turning on many fans at once, bathing in ice water, or consuming cold drinks, the favorite menu of which is iced tea.

Drinking jumbo iced tea that went viral on TikTok looks fun and refreshing. However, consuming jumbo iced tea, especially with a lot of added sugar, is not good for your health.

Side effects of consuming too much iced tea, see below.

1. Can cause kidney failure

One of the contents of sweet iced tea is oxalic acid. If you consume excessive amounts of oxalic acid and cause the compound to accumulate in the kidneys, it will interfere with the kidney's function to remove waste from the blood, which can increase the risk of developing kidney failure.

2. Can trigger obesity

Sweet iced tea usually contains at least one cup of sugar, meaning there are approximately 25 grams of sugar or 250 calories in every glass of sweet iced tea.

Drinking sweet iced tea frequently can trigger someone to become obese, especially for people who are overweight.

3. Risk of stroke

Drinking too much iced tea can also risk stroke. This is because the sugar content can trigger triglyceride levels to be higher.

4. Triggers heart disease

A glass of sweet iced tea contains approximately 47 milligrams of caffeine. If consumed in excess it will have a bad effect on the cardiovascular system.

5. Interferes with iron absorption

Tannins in tea can interfere with the absorption of iron in the body, especially when transporting iron from vegetables.

Apart from that, regarding the sugar content, it is estimated that one packet of jumbo iced tea containing 2-3 liters contains 12-18 tablespoons of sugar or the equivalent of 120-180 grams. Jumbo iced tea can increase the risk of obesity and diabetes mellitus because of its high sugar content. The limit for sugar consumption should be no more than 50 grams or the equivalent of 4 tablespoons a day.

So that sugar intake in the body is maintained, people are advised to consume sugar through fruit, jam, honey and other sweet foods or snacks, not consume tea every day or drink it 2-3 hours after eating. Reduce the use of sugar too, you can replace it with pieces of fruit or mint leaves.

To keep the body from becoming dehydrated, it is recommended that you drink water as needed, for teenagers or adults, drink 8 glasses of water a day.

Numbness due to sitting for too long

Numbness due to sitting for too long

Office workers who sit all day without doing any movement at all, drivers who drive long distances, and young people who play online games all day while facing the screen non-stop are susceptible to feeling numbness in the pelvis and buttocks area when sitting.

It could be that you are experiencing piriformis syndrome. Piriformis syndrome is a condition associated with tension or irritation of the piriformis muscle, a muscle located in the pelvic area, which functions to assist hip rotation.

This condition can cause unpleasant symptoms, including numbness or pain in the buttock area, especially for those who often sit for long periods of time. Additionally, the piriformis muscle can also irritate the nearby sciatic nerve and cause pain, numbness, and tingling along the back of the leg and into the leg (similar to sciatic pain).

Typical piriformis syndrome symptoms may include:

• Dull pain in the buttocks pain in the back of the thigh, calf and foot (sciatica)

• Pain when climbing stairs or inclines increased pain after prolonged sitting reduces the range of motion of the hip joint.

These symptoms may worsen after prolonged sitting, walking, or running. However, symptoms usually subside after lying on your back.

The cause of piriformis syndrome is not yet known. However, several factors are thought to cause this syndrome, such as:

• Muscle spasm of the piriformis muscle, either due to irritation of that muscle or irritation of nearby structures such as the sacroiliac or hip

• Muscle tightening, in response to injury or spasm

• Swelling of the piriformis muscle itself or irritation of nearby structures, such as the sacroiliac or hip joints

• Muscle tightening in response to injury or spasm

• Swelling of the piriformis muscle, due to injury or spasm

• Bleeding in the piriformis muscle area

Prevention in dealing with piriformis syndrome

So that these symptoms do not suddenly continue and get worse, you must at least anticipate piriformis syndrome from now on. First, warm up first to minimize stretching of the piriformis muscle. Do it regularly to reduce muscle spasms.

Second, correct and readjust your sitting posture. Avoid the habit of sitting for too long in one position which can worsen the condition of piriformis syndrome. Changing your sitting position, which you can adjust alternately, certainly helps prevent excess pressure on the piriformis muscle, which is your support in pressing your position when sitting.

If the symptoms of piriformis syndrome still persist, don't take it lightly. Get yourself checked immediately if you experience the following symptoms:

Pain that has lasted for several weeks or more.

• Sudden onset of severe pain accompanied by muscle weakness or a sensation of numbness in the legs.

• Pain that occurs immediately after an injury.

• Difficulty in holding urine or defecation.

• Pain that appears intermittently and hinders daily activities.

• The presence of muscle weakness, especially around the pelvic area, may be a sign of a more serious problem that needs to be evaluated by a health professional.

• Pelvic pain affects sleeping comfort. If this continues, immediately consult a doctor

Piriformis syndrome can be a source of discomfort and mobility problems when carrying out daily activities.

Is it true that women are more at risk of stroke??

Is it true that women are more at risk of stroke??

Stroke is a medical condition that occurs when the blood supply to the brain is interrupted or stopped, usually due to blockage or rupture of blood vessels in the brain. This causes brain cells not to get an adequate supply of oxygen and nutrients, causing damage to brain tissue.

There are two types of stroke that a person can experience, namely ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke.

Ischemic stroke is the most common type of stroke and occurs when a blood vessel in the brain is blocked by a blood clot or cholesterol plaque. This stops blood flow to certain areas of the brain, which causes brain cells to die due to lack of oxygen and nutrients.

Hemorrhagic stroke occurs when a blood vessel in the brain bursts and results in bleeding. Blood coming out of ruptured blood vessels can damage brain tissue and increase pressure on the brain.

Symptoms of stroke in women and men generally include a drooping face, not being able to move one side of the body, difficulty speaking, and balance problems. However, women who have a stroke usually also experience typical symptoms that are not felt by men who suffer from stroke.

Women are more susceptible to stroke due to hormones. Hormone levels, especially estrogen, can affect the strength of blood vessels and make them more susceptible to tears and blood clots.

Before discussing this health problem further, first find out the reasons why women are more susceptible to stroke than men. Stroke can attack anyone, both men and women, young people and the elderly. However, this health problem is more susceptible to attacking women.

This is influenced by the different body conditions of women from men, here are some of them:

Hormonal changes during pregnancy
Menopause after old age
Side effects of using contraceptive pills: women are more susceptible to atrial fibrillation which causes stroke
Genetic factors predispose some women to hypertension and obesity, both of which are the main causes of stroke

Stroke can be treated better when the symptoms that appear are not too severe. Here are a number of stroke symptoms in women that need to be recognized as quickly as possible:

Abnormal facial conditions

A strange facial appearance or numbness on one side are early symptoms of stroke that you need to be aware of.

Difficulty Speaking

When experiencing a stroke. A person may babble, speak incoherently, or even be unable to speak at all.

Fainting

Fainting can be caused by various things, such as sudden shock, low blood pressure, or pregnancy. However, stroke occurs when blood flow to the brain is blocked.

Dizziness and Nausea

Vertigo, which is characterized by nausea and dizziness, is a symptom of stroke that is sometimes unnoticed but it is common in women.

Feeling dazed

Sudden and drastic changes in personality or mental state for no apparent reason may be a sign of a problem.

Extraordinary Headache

Chronic migraines increase your risk of having a stroke or dying from a stroke by 50 percent.

Seizures

Strokes are very dangerous because they can quickly cause brain damage.

Hiccups

Hiccups that occur continuously and cannot be stopped are a sign of a stroke.

Strokes in women can become more prone to occur, over time, especially after menopause. It is important to pay attention to a number of these symptoms so that the problem does not get worse.

Get To Know The Causes of Lower Back Pain

Get To Know The Causes of Lower Back Pain

Hermina's friend, have you ever felt pain in your lower back? If so, it could be low back pain. Lower back pain or low back pain is pain that occurs in the back of the body, namely the waist, lower spine, and can spread to the buttocks or thighs.

This pain can be caused by spinal abnormalities, such as lordosis, scoliosis, spondylitis, and so on. Therefore, low back pain is a health problem that should not be taken lightly.

Low back pain or lower back pain is a condition when pain or discomfort appears in the lower back, starting from below the rib cage to the lower crease of the buttocks but without the pain spreading to the legs.

If not treated properly, lower back pain can reduce lumbar mobility, resulting in limited movement and disrupting activities.

Lower back pain can be mild or it can be severe. This condition can also occur suddenly, or it can also occur slowly, until it seems to come and go but gradually gets worse over time.

Depending on the underlying cause of the pain, symptoms can be experienced in various ways, such as:

Pain or soreness in the lower back area
Stinging, burning pain, felt radiating from the lower back to the back of the thigh, sometimes to the lower leg or foot; may include numbness or tingling (rheumatic pain)
Muscle spasms and tightness in the lower back, pelvis and hips
Pain that worsens after prolonged sitting or standing
Difficulty standing up straight, walking, or moving from standing to sitting

Causes of low back pain

The most common cause of low back pain is torn or pulled muscles or ligaments. This can be in the form of a sprain or lower back strain and can occur suddenly, or it can develop slowly over time due to repetitive movements.

A strain occurs when a muscle is stretched too far and tears, damaging the muscle itself. In addition, it can also be due to sprains which occur when excessive stretching and tearing affects the ligaments, which connect the bones together.

Sprains and strains that trigger lower back pain can be caused by a number of factors such as:

Lifting heavy objects, or twisting the spine when lifting
Sudden movements that put too much pressure on the lower back, such as falling
Poor posture over time
Sports injuries, especially in sports involving twisting or large impact forces

How to deal with low back pain

Usually, low back pain will improve with bed rest, medication, installation of braces (lumbar corset), and physiotherapy, only around 1 - 2% require surgery.

Surgery will be carried out especially in conditions of herniation (HNP) or a decrease in motor and sensory function of the lower limbs.

When it comes to lower back pain, physiotherapy is a treatment that is often recommended for all ages. The aim is to maintain, improve, restore function and dependency if individuals experience impaired movement and function abilities or problems caused by physical damage.

Hermina Yogya Hospital serves health related to orthopedics, such as bones, joints, muscles and other connective tissue. Hot Weather and the Risk of Premature Aging

Indonesia has recently been hit by quite extreme hot weather. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) revealed that this condition was triggered by several factors, such as the effects of the dry season, the El Nino phenomenon, and a decrease in global rainfall.

As a result, a number of areas experienced hot weather like 'leaking hell'. BMKG also predicts hot weather will last for the next seven days with a temperature range of 35-38 degrees Celsius.

Of course, this affects people's routines, especially those who do outdoor activities. Extreme weather, both hot and cold, can worsen some existing skin conditions or even cause new ones.

The climate in an area can affect the skin all over your body, from the appearance of acne to itchy dry patches. In warm climates, increased heat and humidity can cause skin to sweat, making it more prone to acne, especially if your skin is oily.

Apart from making it hot, exposure to hot weather for a long period of time also has the potential to cause health problems. The impact of sun exposure can trigger the appearance of signs of aging on the skin. Heat can also trigger other skin problems.

Among them is heat rash, which occurs when the sweat ducts close, so that moisture is trapped under the skin and causes a rash in the form of blisters or lumps.

Sun damage, UV rays damage the elastic structure under the skin and cause fine tissue-like wrinkles, resulting in a rough and wrinkled appearance (damaged skin barrier). Ultraviolet radiation, which accelerates the natural aging process, is the main cause of premature wrinkles.

Exposure to UV rays can also damage elastin fibers which play a role in maintaining skin shape. Elastin is a protein that allows skin to return to its original shape when pulled or stretched.

When elastin is damaged, the skin begins to lose its ability to return to its original shape after being pulled or stressed. As a result, the skin becomes saggy, fine lines and wrinkles appear,

The effects of UV rays can also make the skin surface dry, rough and uneven.

Damage from UV rays can also cause the skin to lose its ability to retain moisture, leaving it dry and rough.

Tips to protect skin and minimize wrinkles:

1. Protect your skin from sunlight

Limit the time you spend in the sun, especially during the day, and always wear protective clothing, such as a wide-brimmed hat, long-sleeved shirt, and sunglasses.

Apart from that, use sunscreen/SPF when outdoors.

2. Moisturize

Dry skin makes skin cells wrinkle, which can cause fine lines and premature wrinkles.

3. Eat healthy food

You should consume more nutrients, fruits and vegetables because there are certain vitamins in food that can help you protect your skin

4. Don't smoke

Even if you have smoked for years or smoke heavily, you can still improve skin tone and texture and prevent wrinkles by quitting smoking.

Skin Abscess

Skin Abscess

Getting to know skin abscesses

A skin abscess is a pocket filled with pus, similar to a pimple, but larger under the skin. Skin abscesses can occur on all parts of the body, including in the armpits, breasts, around the anus and buttocks. This disease occurs frequently and attacks people of all ages. Skin abscesses form when the body tries to protect itself from infection by creating a wall around it. The pus contains bacteria, white blood cells and dead skin. The most common bacteria are Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Healthy people have this bacteria on their skin but do not experience infections. However, when bacteria penetrate the skin through a wound, they can cause an abscess.

Signs and symptoms

A skin abscess is in the form of a round lump and feels firm and slippery because of the thick membrane around it and the presence of pus fluid inside. It is usually painful, and the overlying skin is often red. Skin abscesses can worsen without treatment. The infection can spread to the tissue under the skin and even into the bloodstream. If the infection spreads to deeper tissue, symptoms of fever will appear.

Treatment of Skin Abscess at Home

Treatment for skin abscesses can be done at home if the abscess is small (less than 1 cm or less than half an inch), by applying a warm compress to the abscess area for about 30 minutes, 4 times a day. Do not try to drain the abscess by squeezing or squeezing it. This can push infected material into deeper tissues. Do not insert a needle or other sharp instrument into the center of the abscess, as this can injure the underlying blood vessels or cause the infection to spread.

Medical Assistance

We need to see a doctor if the following occurs along with a skin abscess, namely:
An abscess that is more than 1 cm or half an inch wide.
The abscess continues to grow or becomes more painful.
An abscess in or near the anus or groin area.
An abscess on the face that is more than 1 cm or half an inch wide.
High fever.
There is an area of redness that extends beyond the wound indicating the infection is spreading.
Sufferers of chronic diseases or undergoing steroid treatment, chemotherapy, or dialysis.
There are swollen lymph nodes (for example, an abscess in the leg can cause swollen lymph nodes in the groin area).

How to Make a Diagnosis of Skin Abscess

The doctor will ask about other symptoms accompanying the skin abscess and perform a physical examination. The doctor may perform supporting examinations such as ultrasonography (USG) on deeper abscesses. The doctor may collect a sample of pus from the abscess for testing to identify the type of bacteria causing the abscess. This can help your doctor decide on the best treatment.

Treatment of Skin Abscess in Hospital

Incision and drainage

The only sure way to treat a skin abscess is to open the sac and drain the pus. This is known as “incision and drainage”. A scalpel is used to make a hole in the wall of the abscess and empty it of pus.

The doctor does not stitch up the incision but will bandage the wound or leave gauze to fill the empty area. This allows the pus to continue to drain and prevents the abscess from returning. The gauze is changed every day or several days according to the doctor's consideration. Eventually, all of the gauze will be removed and the wound will heal from the inside out. Warm, moist compresses or baths are also recommended to keep the wound open and draining fluid. Healing of an abscess incision depends on the size and severity of the abscess. The pain often improves immediately and subsides more and more each day.

Antibiotic medication

Antibiotic treatment for some patients undergoing incision and drainage of skin abscesses is necessary. However, antibiotics may not be given in the following conditions:

Single abscess.
Abscess size <2 cm in diameter.
There is no or minimal cellulitis (skin inflammation) around it.
There is no fever >38°C, decreased blood pressure, or increased heart rate.
There are no immune disorders or other comorbidities.
There was no previous clinical failure with incision and drainage alone.
There are no internally implanted medical devices (such as prosthetic joints, blood vessel grafts, or pacemakers).
There are no risk factors for endocarditis (heart infection).
No exposure to situations that could infect others (e.g., contact sports, military barracks).

Complications of Skin Abscess

If left untreated, skin abscesses can trigger infections that spread throughout the body, can be life-threatening, and can cause death. Call your doctor if your skin abscess doesn't go away on its own, or doesn't get better with home treatment.

Prevention of Skin Abscesses

We can prevent skin abscesses by keeping the skin clean and dry. Bacteria that enter the wound can cause skin abscesses.

Other steps you can take to prevent skin abscesses include:

Wash your hands regularly.
Don't share towels, razors, or toothbrushes.
Avoid scratching the skin or be careful when shaving.
Maintain a healthy eating pattern.
Quit smoking.
Maintain body hygiene.

"); $('#div_next_link').html(" ");
