Early Detection of Heart Attack and How to Treat It
Early detection is one of the keys to preventing heart disease. Everyone can do this independently by checking their own pulse. If the heart rhythm is felt to be abnormal, we can check with the doctor as early as possible and of course if heart disease or heart rhythm disorders can be detected as early as possible, of course the hope is that the worst risks of heart disease can be prevented. Patients can also consciously start a healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly, choosing a healthy diet, and maintaining adequate and regular sleep patterns.
A heart attack is an emergency where the flow of blood carrying oxygen to the heart is stopped suddenly. Since this condition can happen anytime and anywhere, it is important to know how to provide first aid in case of a heart attack.
By providing first aid in an emergency, you stand a chance of preventing a more serious condition from occurring. Now, as a basic skill that everyone must have, let's look at the steps and methods of first aid in heart attack below.
Recognize common heart attack symptoms
Because lives can be at stake, it is important to recognize the symptoms and conditions of a heart attack. Indeed, the symptoms of a heart attack that appear in each person may vary. However, it is important to be aware of some common symptoms, such as:
- Shortness of breath
- Chest pain, like being pressed by a heavy object and lasts for several minutes, does not improve with rest
- Chest pain radiates to the back, solar plexus, left shoulder/arm and upper body.
- Body feels weak and dizzy
- Shedding cold sweat
- May be accompanied by loss of consciousness
First aid for heart attack
It is not impossible if you suddenly encounter a situation where someone is having a heart attack. Even if you have never experienced it, at least you know how to give first aid for a heart attack to others. Below are the steps you can follow.
In conscious patients
- calm the patient and do not panic
- Loosen or loosen the victim's clothes
- make sure the victim is not cold
- immediately take the patient to the nearest hospital / health facility
- avoid giving any food or drink into the mouth
In unconscious patients
- Immediately call an ambulance or ask people around to call the nearest hospital ambulance.
- Place the patient on a flat place
- Lift the patient's head at the nape of the neck and press on his forehead, pushing his chin up and down.
- Check breathing by putting your ear to the victim's mouth, while watching for chest movement.
- If the patient is not breathing, immediately begin compressions two fingers above the solar plexus by placing one palm on the center of the victim's chest, placing the other hand over the first hand.
- Tighten the fingers of both hands and press on the chest, do 15 compressions and 2 artificial breaths.
- Immediately take the victim to the emergency room of the nearest hospital.
Here's the first aid you can do in case of a heart attack. Help should be given as quickly as possible. The sooner a patient arrives at the hospital, the greater his or her life expectancy will be and the risk of extensive heart damage is also likely to be reduced.
