Let's Get to Know! Typhoid Fever Can Be Transmitted Through Humans!

Typhoid fever, also known as typhus abdominalis or enteric fever, is an endemic disease in Indonesia, which ranks third out of the ten most hospitalized diseases. This disease is caused by infection with germs namely, Salmonella enteric serotype Typhi, Salmonella enterides serotype Paratyphi A, B, C, which are the source of transmission through humans. The mode of transmission of this disease through the fecal-oral describes the route of disease transmission when the pathogen in one person's fecal particles moves to another person's mouth, which becomes the feces or urine of carriers (asymptomatic carriers).

To find out if a patient has typhoid fever, it is necessary to carry out laboratory tests such as a complete peripheral blood count, liver function examination, and widal/Tubex TF examination. The other possible symptoms of typhoid fever are that the patient has malaria, dengue fever/dengue fever, hepatitis, and other viral or bacterial infections.
For the prevention of typhoid fever, attention needs to be paid to personal hygiene, sanitation, especially washing hands with antiseptic soap before eating or preparing food, avoiding consumption of food or drinks prepared in unhygienic conditions, ensuring that water for drinking, cooking, toothbrushes has been boiled, and used eating and drinking utensils are washed well/chlorinated.
