Triggers of Epileptic Seizures

Several things that can trigger seizures to become more frequent in people with epilepsy are known as "Triggers". Triggers are not the cause of epilepsy. By recognizing and avoiding triggers whenever and wherever, it really helps people with epilepsy to avoid seizures.

1. People with epilepsy must always remember not to be late taking their epilepsy medication as directed by the doctor. Routinely taking epilepsy medication can keep drug levels steady in the blood. Inform the drugs or other supplements that are consumed to avoid potential interactions with epilepsy drugs.

2. Eat and rest regularly. 40-50% of people with epilepsy say that they are tired, sleep deprived, and skipping meals are more likely to have seizures. If an epileptic sufferer has a fever and infection, the frequency of his seizures can become more frequent.

3. Try to avoid stress. The exact cause is still unknown, but epileptic patients who experience stress are prone to more frequent seizures.

4. Limit consumption of unhealthy foods and drinks. Epileptic patients who regularly drink alcohol are also prone to having more frequent seizures.

5. Avoid glare or flickering light. Some people with epilepsy have a high sensitivity to the light that triggers their seizures. Certain patterns of appearance, such as stripes or ticks, can trigger seizures in patients with photosensitive epilepsy.

6. Consult a doctor if your seizures follow the menstrual cycle in women. In women, hormonal changes from adolescence, menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth to menopause can affect their epilepsy.

Let's remember and avoid regarding seizure triggers so that epilepsy can be controlled and live with a better quality
