Ubaya Hospital Emergency First Aid Training

On May 31 2023 at 08.00 WIB, Ubaya Hospital conducted Emergency First Aid (PPGD) training in the Multipurpose Room lt. 9 Ubaya Hospitals for Ambulance Volunteer Teams operating in Surabaya and surrounding areas. The event was attended by around 30 ambulance drivers from the Surabaya, Bojonegoro and Ngawi areas. The PPGD training invited emergency specialist doctors at Ubaya Hospital, namely dr. Abraham Sebastian, Sp. EM. The PPGD training aims to provide socialization regarding general knowledge about initial aid for emergency patients by ambulance drivers before being referred to the emergency room. Apart from dr. Abraham, the PPGD training was also attended by Dr. Lucky Dana Victory as the Head of the Ubaya Hospital IGD Installation.

According to dr. Abraham, most people are still not fully educated on how to evacuate emergency patients properly and correctly. For example, in some cases of traffic accidents, there is a worsening of cervical spine injuries caused by improper patient evacuation. In addition, dr. Abraham also emphasized that the gold period for emergency patient cases is in the way of handling or evacuating these patients. In this training dr. Abraham also taught how to carry out the emergency evacuation process, such as splinting techniques to suspect fractures, placing a cervical collar to reduce the additional injuries that usually occur in traffic accidents, to basic life support for patients who have had a cardiac arrest.

Not only Dr. Abraham, the PPGD training was also attended by the Director of Ubaya Hospital, namely dr. Agnes Widayu Estiningsih. dr. Agnes hopes that this PPGD training activity can provide new insights for ambulance drivers so that they can serve emergency patients in a professional manner. Not only that, he also encouraged the entire Ambulance Volunteer Team to continue to be able to provide the best service for emergency patients, from triage to initial handling of emergency cases so that emergency patients are safe for the transportation process.
